Team Talk:

"Returning to the track after a few weeks lay off (not least of all because jet set matt had been away on his hols)... the team were really up for proving they were back on track and able to pull out some good results... After much critiscsm of their first venue of the season (which we actually really enjoyed riding despite the jumps but hey we ride anything) worcester really came through with the track for the worcester winner... Although not the biggest track in the world it was wide and provided plent of room for overtaking... And for those that were worried about bumps there wasn't any ;)

Heat one saw us line up agains Steve "the legend" Smith and an ever improving Chris Spiers... It was Mr spiers who hit the ground running and took the hole shot but with us chasing hard and Steve Smith chasing us in turn it was never going to be an easy race for chris and after two three laps of constant pressure from the fat man a gap appeared and we slotted into first to take a sound seven points... A few changes were discussed on the cool down lap one of which was that it would probably be better if Matt was to knee on the running board and not my leg... Although a cmfier option kneeling on your passengers leg does restrict his movement somewhat...

Heading into race two we were confident that the bike was on fine form and with the new starting technique fast becoming second nature to Mr F we knew we had a great shot at making it two from two... Setting the bike up was a little bit of a lottery due to the ever changing weather conditions also making things a little trickier for race two was the fact that a heavy shower had lead to the track being moved in 4 metres at each end... A great decision in terms of safe racing as it provided a drier less greasy line to race on and although the pole line was smaller the width of the track was now even bigger so there was a lot of lines to choose from... Our second heat saw us against Chris spiers for a second time and also the youngest of the Winterburn driving team Gaz in his first competitive outing as a driver... The tapes went everyone went then matt woke up and we went ;) having a slight delay on the start meant we were the filling in a spiers winterburn sandwich as Chris was heading for the racing line so moving over on us and Gaz was trying to remember where his gear lever was which meant we really had to throttle off to avoid running into the back of Gaz... That aside by the time we hit lap two we had made it into secon and were once again putting pressure on Mr Spiers... Able to hold a tight line we nipped up the inside and took our second win of the day... (yes you did read that right Matt and Andi held a TIGHT line and nipped up the INSIDE... most unlike us its true but never the less that is what happend).

As we I started to push the bike up for race three it become obvious that we had a punture in the front tyre... which wasn't a problem as far as time was concerned as it's a two minute job to change a front wheel on our bike... However the problem we now had was we had been running our wet weather front wheel te only other front wheel we had was the dry weather wheel and they don't work so well wen the track is wet... fortunately the track was drying and as long as the rain held off we thoght we would get away with running the dry tyre... Our third heat saw us meet our strongest oponent yet in the form of Rod Winterburn who at that stage was also on two wins... lining up to th inside of Rod we lept out of the gate and hit5 the first bend first... Rods engine had died on the line leaving us with a healthy advantage... three and thre quarter laps down and there was no challenge from Mr Winterburn the race was ours until... entering the last corner we threw a chain and gifted the race ... well to everyone... true to form though we pushed over the line for a fifth place...

Even with the fifth place finish we were still running third overall... there was no chance of using our bike due to the damage shedding the chain had caused so it was down to who would be kind enough to lend us a bike... Gaz Winterburn stepped up to the plate and said we could use his bike... We owe Gaz a huge thankyou for offering us his bike and also to him and his pit crew for setting it up ready for the final... However after another torential downpour the clerk of the course decided it was unsafe to run the finals and called the meeting...

So it was very nearly three straight victories for FWR which would have given us our first meeting win in... well ... too bloody long... That said two come through the day with the results we had overcoming the problems we had left us pretty pleased that the bike was working well... All being well we are hoping to get it fixed for the qualifier next weekend but we are struggling financially a little as we have had a few mechanical problems this year so if anyone feels like donatng get in touch ;) N doanation to small peeps:)"
